March 2017: Ilha Grande, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). I split up the craziness of the world renowned Brazilian Carnival by hiking up to some of the best views I’ve ever seen with my friends Manuel and Cesar.
February 2017: Arica, San Pedro de Atacama, Santiago, Pichilemu (Chile). Chile matches Peru in terms of differing landscapes: I explored the coast, the desert, the volcanoes and the cities in my two weeks here.
January 2017: Cusco, Puno, Arequipa (Peru). My second visit into Peru was just as good as the first, with new sights to be seen and both new and old friends to meet. Peru remains one of my favourite countries due to the friendliness of the locals, the sustainable nature in which the indigenous culture has been preserved, the prices and the range of landscapes. I urge everyone to try and visit if you can!
January 2017: Bogota, Cali, Ipiales (Colombia); Tulcan, Esmeraldas, Quito (Ecuador). James and I teamed up with French-speaking Loic and Francois to travel through these countries, which involved a lot of buses! We did two nice hikes in Colombia- barely took the GoPro out here- and had a ridiculous amount of fun in Ecuador. Read about our experiences here for Colombia and here for Ecuador.
June-July 2015: Cusco, Ollantaytambo, Machu Picchu (Peru); La Paz, Rurrenabaque, Santa Rosa, North Yungas Road (Bolivia). Incredible tours from both G-Adventures and STA Travel (who hooked us up with a breathtaking 4 days in the Amazonian Pampas). No Fear Tours provided our days bike ride down ‘Death Road’, most of the operators on this road looked the same (return minibus to and from La Paz, all safety gear and a buffet lunch and shower at the end in Coroico) but we opted for the extra $20 for a full-suspension bike and enjoyed the descent more than the others.Our Peruvian guide, Evert ‘Spider’, truly made the Inca Trail for us, inviting us to hike back over the Dead Woman’s Pass three times in one day and taking us into a Quechuan woman’s house to watch the Peru v Chile match in the Copa Del America with the locals.
